It was a 'Happy Friday' present.

Rosiedress2

This was another dress for Rosie. C. wore her liberty bubble dress for the last time last night, as it's getting a little snug in the chest. Onto the next size!

I love how quickly she's growing and changing. Each new stage is my favorite and this one is no exception. As soon as I finish one outfit for her, she needs another!

This week we have shots again, so I'll be working on a treat for C. and a treat for me to get us through the sadness. It's crazy, but I've started making my Christmas plans as well.

Gifting

There's been a smattering of sewing for other babies this week, something that makes me so incredibly happy. I owed a certain little guy an elephant.

In addition, I practiced the Oliver & S playsuit pattern so that little Eli could have an outfit for the late summer/early fall.

The pattern was a tiny bit more difficult than the bubble dress pattern- even if there are a few less steps. I ended up pulling out bodice stitches a few times, but the end result is so terribly cute, that I felt the effort was worth it. The fabric is from Denyse Schmidt; the same line is found in the elephant's ears and diaper mat.

We're so glad to meet you, Elijah!

Twin Quilts

Twingifts

This weekend it was my great pleasure to aid in throwing a baby shower for a friend who's having twin boys. I was dying to show off these gifts all week, partly because the fabric came out so cute, and partly because the elephants turned out well.

There ended up being a red elephant for twin B as well; he's just not pictured because he was in surgery having his ears attached at the time.

I have been trying to sew a bit everyday, and have started working on Cate's bedding, her elephant, a commission for a friend, and a blue wrap dress for the wedding I plan to attend (as a normal, non-pregnant person) in six weeks.

Day 28

Purplehobo A birthday is a marvelous thing! I think my parents were great at imparting a feeling of specialness to each of our birthday months/weeks/days, and it's a happy tradition I get to carry over into my adult life now. It helps that I have a fantastic group of friends who have been supportive of my creating/design dreams for the last few years now.

A friend is having a birthday soon. Sure, she may see her silk and tapestry present ahead of time here with all of you. But she won't know for certain it's hers until she opens the brown paper package!

The design was a new one for me. I caught sight of the shape when flipping through Vogue magazine last night and thought it would just perfect for a spring bag. I plan to make a few smaller models to put in shops around town, along with the wallets and pouches.
